Combi boiler installation in Darlington

The job

We were at a property in Darlington to carry out a routine boiler service. On inspection we found that the burner on the old floor standing boiler had cracked. The boiler was obsolete, so replacement parts were not available, and it was left in an unsafe condition. The customer needed the heating and hot water sorting properly rather than patched up, so we looked at what would work best for the house.

What we did

The old boiler sat in the kitchen, where there was very little spare wall space to mount a new one without leaving pipework on show. We recommended moving the boiler into the airing cupboard instead, which kept the kitchen clear, kept the pipe runs tidy and left the boiler somewhere easy to get to. We removed the old floor standing boiler, reran the primary heating pipework and ran a new gas supply from the meter through to the new position, then installed an Alpha E-Tec Plus combi. A vertical flue was taken up through the roof, a new system filter was fitted and the system was power flushed. The condensate was run in and the boiler was tested and commissioned before we left.

The result

The property in Darlington now has a modern combi boiler in place of an obsolete floor standing unit, heating and hot water on demand and no cylinder taking up the airing cupboard. The installation is neat, the pipework is out of the way and the boiler is still easy to reach. The whole job took three days from start to finish. The customer was happy with how it was left and has booked us back for a few smaller plumbing jobs.
